Floyd Mayweather says his career earnings will blast past $1 billion after Conor McGregor fight

Floyd Mayweather is already known as the “Money” man in boxing.

His reputation will be further enhanced after his battle with UFC star Conor McGregor.

The American expects to bank $350 million (£272 million) for the fight on August 26, taking his career earnings past $1 billion (£777 million).

Mayweather, 40, has been involved in all of the top three biggest-selling pay-per-view fights of all time.

His record-smashing victory over Manny Pacquiao in 2015 was sold to 4.6 million households in the United States, yet Mayweather believes his fight with McGregor will be an even bigger success.

“It’s going at the right pace and, at the pace we’re going at right now it’s going to be bigger than the Pacquiao fight,” Mayweather told Jimmy Kimmel on Tuesday’s edition of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

Mayweather was asked how much money he expects to earn after the McGregor fight. “$350 million, yes. It’s cool,” he replied.

Forbes estimates Mayweather’s career earnings to be $700 million (£544 million) so a monster pay-day against McGregor would take that figure way past the $1 billion (£777 million) barrier.

Mayweather is so confident he will demolish McGregor that he is already promoting his afterparty. “It will be at my strip club at Girl Collection. I’ll make about $300,000 afterwards [at the party]! Cash is king and I’m the human ATM.”

A notorious spender, Mayweather is renowned for his love of fast cars and private jets. He even carries $80,000 around in backpacks.

Kimmel asked how this is even possible considering some banks have withdrawal limits. “You order it and when you order a certain amount, when you order millions of dollars, a Brink’s truck comes to your house. At one time I had a Brinks truck, but I sold it.”

Perhaps Mayweather should have kept that truck for life after McGregor.
